KB938979 disables the bcedit /set loadoptions ddisable_integrity_checks command, which means to turn of driver signing, I have to either uninstall the update and take a performance loss, or hit F8 every time I start my computer and turn it off there.

    :ugh:

For unsigned drivers to work in vista, you have to turn off driver signing. Things like RivaTuner, Hamachi, and anything else that installs unsigned drivers will not function with it on.

Used to, you could disable it from the command prompt, but as a "Performance update", Microsoft disabled Windows from checking to see if you set this option.

Meaning the only way to turn it off now is to hit F8 during bootup and disable it in the boot menu - but you have to do that every time your turn your computer on.

    Okay, yeah, that's bullshit.

Where's the performance loss coming from if you remove the patch, though?

Plus some more stuff that isn't documented, like the disabling of the bcedit checks.
