I was not too interested in this movie, but it looks like they are going to grit it up and the critics are loving it.

"This isn't your Don Johnson Miami Vice"

Think I will have to see it on Friday. Has to be better than John Tucker.

    It was only OK.
Not enough action, and to me it seemed that Gong Li was out of her element. For being a drug kingpin, she was awfully tentative.
Some good gun porn & boat scenes, and had a hint of the flavor of the old TV series.

I saw it last night and was disappointed. There were barely any action scenes but when there was one it was badass. There was alot of dialogue in the movie and it started to drag after awhile. Movie was ok. Go into it but dont expect an intense non stop action flick

Dull and disappointing. A few heart-pounding scenes but not enough to justify admission prices.

And WTF, an Asian women as a Columbian drug cartel leader? I know we live in a politically-correct world but this is just fucking retarded. Don't get me wrong, I've admired Gong Li since the days she starred in countless films from mainland China. But her English in Miami Vice was so poor, there should have been subtitles.

We had our own Denver Vice while the movie was playing. A drunk guy was smoking dope in the first row. The off-duty police officer for the theatre came in and hauled him away.

I thought it was quite entertaining. Super stylized and the mood was effective, but i thought that there wasnt much focus in the story and there really wasnt any character development. I enjoyed Collateral more and it wasn't nearly as good as Heat, but still definitely worth a watch.

Add to that amazing film making and the most brutal & realistic gunshot/death scenes I've ever seen.

I saw it Friday and liked it. I'm a huge fan of the series Miami Vice, but going to this I knew it was goign to be nothing like it. They may as well have named it something else. So if you are in love with the Miami Vice series and you are expecting that, you will be butthurt and come back here whining.

I have a question though, for those of you who saw it. Did anybody notice a black Dodge Charger (SRT8 I believe)? During the huge action scene they roll up in two cars, one is a real nice BMW I believe, can't remember, the other is a black car. It looks a lot like the Dodge Charger, but I can't be sure because they never give a real clear shot of it.

I have more info to describe the scene, but I can't say anything else without giving away stuff.

I knew it, the only thing that made me think twice is...why a charger. They have all those amazingly expensive cars in it and then a Charger. I've driven a Charger SRT8 and it is a very cool and fun car. But it still strikes me as odd to choose that when other cars are high end mercedes, bmw's, and ferrari's.

    Product placement.

The new Dodge Charger was also featured in "My Ex-Girlfriend".

I did like the cinematography, gun battles, and action scenes. I didn't like Gong Li's preformance. And Colin Farrel was distracting.

good cinematography, bad dialog, too much Macho "i know what i'm talking about lingo". there was little to no real communication or connection between crocket and tubbs and i felt there was no chemistry between them. Farell's accent changed with every phrase. Gong Li's accent was distracting and she and farell lacked in on screen chemistry. Way too many sweeping boat shots. it dragged on and on and on. The Action, when i finally happened was good, the gun fight were believable but a lot was left ot be desired when it finally came down to solidifying what was in essence a good plot, it just seemed muddled and lost in a mish-mash of sweeping vistas and lack of dialog

Terrible movie. Terrible plot. Terrible dialogue. Terrible acting. I wanted to leave 30 minutes into the movie. Everyone around me practically hated it too, and the theatre was basically full of black thugs and hispanics. Thats speaks volumes.
