They finally released some extended gameplay footage. Looks promising, still not sure about the method of control, but I get a good vibe from everything else. It starts about 30 seconds in.

looks good, i still feel like it's a missed opportunity that you cant move her around in the first person view though

I hope classic controller is an option, because I don't really like using the wiimote sideways :o

It won't, as pointing the remote at the screen is kind of a big deal. I've played enough NES/WW games with a sideways remote that it's comfortable enough for me.

considering there were just 3 games in a row that you could do that in, this is a welcome regress to the classic gameplay.

i'm more just referring to the sheer annoyance of being frozen in first person view... "oh that switch is just out of my line of sight, better switch back to 2.5D to get a better angle, now back to first person" type of thing

if thats even how it works, i suppose i could be jumping to conclusions :mamoru:

either way im excited for the external view gameplay

It looks like samus sort of autoaims. Anyone notice this? Especially since the wiimote doesnt have L/R triggers.

LOL @ some of the moves looking like they were just copy and pasted from ninja gaiden.
oh well should be fun. Hopefully it's not like ninja gaiden stressful.

I enjoyed the FPS styled Metroid games, but 2D and 2.5D stuff is what I grew up playing.

Plus, this gives me something to do with the Wii again, which has been sitting around collecting dust. :o

The old ones were such a success cause they created such a cool feel of exploration and just being so isolated from everything else. Hope this one keeps that or else to me it's not a metroid game

I'm probably the only one on these forums that managed to beat MP2. That game slow-starting and pretty hardcore, but I found it to be the "deepest" Metroid to date.

MP2 takes dedication. It took me a few years to finally get around to beating it (the item fetch at the end is brutal without a guide). But when I did, I was very satisfied. I also thought it had some of the best graphics of last gen, if not the best.

Ironically enough, I haven't beat 3 yet, which is probably the easiest of the three.
