I typically post two ads a day on CL (one in "creative services" and the other in "event services". I just got this email.

    my reply

Maybe I should have simply said "I'll shoot your wedding for free if you suck my dick??" :x:

You're much better than those who post it in their city and the 5 surrounding metropolitan areas with the identical ad. I dont mind people posting once a day, usually the first page grabs my attention and i give up (for CL)

Link to her ad. I'll send her an e-mail telling her I need a graphic designer, but since her ad is not on the front page I'm not sure that she's dedicated to her profession. For all I know she's some college student that got a wild hair up her ass one night and decided to post a single ad for her "services." I need a dedicated professional, not some drunk sorority girl.

    Wait, maybe I do need a drunk sorority girl . . .

:rofl::bowdown: I wish I knew which ad was hers. There are a lot of "graphic designers" on CL.

I should add that as a criteria to finding my wedding photog. Quality of Craigs List postings.

Agreed in my area anything past the first 15-20 are a couple days old and likely outdated. Also every photog on there posts at least a couple times per week.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was another photog trying to chase him off because he's much better than the majority of CL photogs.

Since she's a "graphic artist" maybe I should email her once a day and ask her to take a look at my ads.

I've been a graphic design dept. manager for the past 3 years now in addition to IT bitch and web admin. Before I was a designer myself, still am for my business, but being around these people - anyone with the audacity to send you an email like that has no talent so don't feel worried in any way.

Most graphic Designers are the weirdest fucking people on the planet. I don't get along with any of them. Reason I got lobbed into it is because my employer saw I was proficient in everything they need to use in the design dept while they took me on board in addition as web admin, so they wanted to add something to my work load as a designer.

Anyway - i'm rambling. People like this are a waste of time and generally a pain in the dick to work with. They take offense to everything and have no friends.

 it's fake...what kind of legitimate, non-pain-in-the-ass client messages you specifically to tell you she's NOT interested in your services.

Even if she was legit (not) too much of a headcase to deliver total satisfaction for her.
Very high effort-to-satisfaction ratio. Not worth the time.

In fact, I just had to jettison such a client for next year. Mother-in-law just would NOT stop butting into the business, constantly requesting contract mods, extras, etc. I felt bad for the kids, but I finally told them to get lost. I also had some inside info on the MIL, so the decision isn't entirely based on a whim...

I was talking to our art director the other day about people like this. Let me give you a quick rundown of what we determined it means when someone says they are a "graphic designer" or an artist.

Artist = Unemployed, uneducated, unskilled and doesn't have any equipment. Usually a hippy.
Designer = They own Microsoft Publisher and Photoshop Essentials.
Graphic Artist = Unemployed, uneducated, unskilled hippy that owns a Mac.
Graphic Designer = Owns a Mac and has a bootleg copy of Adobe CS4 Design Premium
Professional Graphic Designer = Paid for art college, owns a mac, tries to get work out of family members to pay the rent.
No title at all = Actual professional that is too busy working to worry about such bullshit.
