Last night on sherdog radio Melendez said he'd be willing to make 145 to fight Faber "if someone made it worth his while."

He also said he's nearing the end of his Strikeforce obligation and exploring his options.

Do you think Zuffa/the WEC are interested in making this fight, and willing to throw enough money at Gil to make it happen? If they do, whats your prediction?

You sure about that? The only thing I've ever heard Dana say about Gil is that he's "very interested," but that Gil was under contract with Strikeforce.

And my understanding is that he's been under contract with Strikeforce since before his Pride fights, and that they let him fight in Pride on a per fight basis.

All that aside, I don't believe Dana micromanages the WEC as much as some might think. Reid Harris and Scott Adams still run the day to day operations, and Adams is the matchmaker. They know Gil well, and I'm sure they'd love to make that fight.

I do not agree. I think he'd give Faber a much tougher fight than Pulver did, and have a real solid chance at winning. It'd be an interesting fight atleast...who else can you say that about at 145, besides Kid?

As far as how he'd fare in the UFC 155 division...I think BJ is the only guy who could put him away, and he'd fare well against the top 5. I think he'd demolish Huerta(it'd look alot like the Guida fight, only without the hl reel ending) or Florian.

Melendez would be a nightmare for Faber -- he has the Liddell like ability to pop up from the bottom and equally strong wrestling.
