Meguiar's has unveiled its new line of car cleansing products for 2008, and they've developed an entirely new wax formula that caught our eye here at SEMA. It's debuting in Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 and is coined Hydrophobic Polymer Technology. Hydrophobic is a term meaning water fearing, which chemists use to describe chemical compositions that actually repel H2O molecules. That's right, this stuff is actually scared of water, so much so that when water drops onto a hydrophobic surface, the polar structure of the wet stuff that creates surface tension causes the H2O molecules to bond to each other. This not only creates beads of water like normal waxes, but also encourages those beads to get the heck off your paint job, post haste. This advanced water repellent force makes Tech Wax 2.0 more advanced than your everyday wax, and we're eager to give it a try on our collection of cars.

I got a sample of it from Meguiars to test. Really slick, deeper look than the original NXT and beads like crazy. Slickness is lasting too, I've had it on a customer's BMW and at the 4 week point, it still felt like it was freshly applied.

how does it compare to ocw so far?

As a side note, i love the bit of chemistry in the description. In fact, all waxes are hydrophobic (thats why the water beads) as is any sufficiently non-polar chemical.

Compared to the original OCW or one of the two new versions I am testing?

NXT v2 is better than the original OCW, but both new version are as good as NXT v2 and easier to use. The 'A' sample I have of OCW is really nice but the 'B' version looks even wetter and is even slicker. I used it right over a fresh (but cured) coat of Opti-Seal and it definitely amped up the look-where another coat of OS really doesn't change the appearance. I'll just apply a 2nd coat to ensure complete coverage anyway.

Justin-I have enough for 4-5 more cars so I am hanging on to what I have.
