My car has been in need of a detail for quite some time. In the past I used a combo of 3M SMR with a cutting pad and had good results in removing swirls. I was not able to find the 3M product, so I purchased some Meguiars instead. Will the Meguiars be strong enough paired with a cutting pad and PC be able to remove the moderate swirls? I plan to keep things simple, so would applying NXT wax right after polishing be fine or would I need to wash then apply wax.

Absolutely no idea without the car in front of me. So dependent on the hardness of the paint, severity of the defects and your polishing technique. Do a test section or two and see if that combo is adequate.
