If i take a picture at 5.0 and resize it down to like 1280x960 would the picture quality be better then taking the picture at setting 1.2megapixel(1280x960)? thanks in advance :bigthumb:

Theoreticly the file sizes should be the same for each image if they are the same size (1280x960) and the same resolution (72dpi)

If you take the 5mp and take it down to 1280x960 it would prob look better only because the 5mp takes better pics because it is newer / better technology.

The other issue is how light is divided into it's colour components when contacting the CCD. Currently (ignoring Sigma's new tech) each sensor only picks up either red, blue or green, not a value for each. Therefore, if you use a 5mp camera and resize down, then you should be getting a better colour representation of the original than with a standard 1.2mp camera, as well as a picture which appears "sharper". However, this also dependent on the algorithm that you use to downsize your picture. A crap algorithm can give you worse results than using a standard 1.2mp camera.

I always shoot at the highest setting and then resize as necessary. It looks better and it gives u the freedom to resize it for wutever u need it for. Just make sure u have alot of storage and youll be set.
