Never done this before. I just recently gave the whole online dating thing a try and this will be the first person I am actually meeting in real life.

    Short background:
We have been emailing back and forth for about 3 weeks. We have been trying to find a time to get together for about a week now but our schedules do not work well together. She works two jobs and is going to school for her masters. I work one job 30-40hrs a week and I am taking 15 credits at school.
anyway we are finally meeting up thurs for drinks.

As I said I have never done the whole online thing before anyone have any experience or advice? I have no idea what proper etiquette is in this situation. :noes: :eek3:

    Meet in a public place.
Try to talk on the phone before you meet (at least once).
Realize that her online persona is going to be quite different that her real life personality.

Have talked on the phone. We are meeting in a public place.

I fully expect her real life personality to be very different and is the problem because mine will be just as different to her

oh and by the way, if it matters, we are both 25

I hear that. The girl I met, I was all kinds of attracted to her online persona and the pictures she posted, I thought she was hot as fuck. But the real life personality and the way she carried herself just wasn't the same. I mean, she was still pretty, but I don't think the chemistry was there.

I went on dates with a couple people I met online last time I was single. It feels a little strange in the beginning, but once you get into it, it really isn't any different than a normal first date. I usually don't waste much time before asking someone out though.

I'll never do it again. At least not as a dating tool anyway.

But I see nothing wrong with it if people can make it work. :dunno:

Just saying that the general majority on the site are resorting to online dating because they are incapable of doing so in person... That's a red flag for me

I'd say the % of dateable people online is just about the same as real life. :mamoru:

To that I would say, sure there are a lot of those types on the internet but the last few I met in real life were just as bad if not worse.

I am 25 and looking for something a little more serious. I am not talking about marriage, kids or anything like that but on the other hand I am not just looking for a hookup. Hookups are easy to find. I work 30-40hours a week and I am taking 15 credits at school. That takes up most of my time. The problem I run into is that I don't really have anywhere good to meet new people.

At school everyone is either 5-7years younger of 5+years older so that option is out.

At work there is nothing good either. The people I work with (I work as a server) seem to think the only way to have fun is by going out every night and getting wasted. Sure that can be fun every once and a while but not all the time.

anyway this girl seems "normal" and well adjusted, if she turns out to be crazy then so what. I will at the very least have a good story

and as far as wasting time before the first date, I was in L.A. for a week then she has been away on a business trip.

If you NEVER go to a bookstore or a library, then you really don't LOVE to read. :mamoru:

Granted, Amazon.com is the best thing since natural tits, but people who "love" to read tend to like to go to bookstores once in while for the sheer experience of manually browsing books.

I'm the same way, but I still love to go into a bookstore and fan through the books.

Maybe that's just the writer in me. :o

I try to make it a habit to visit the bookstore/library fairly frequently. It's motivation for me.

But I also love the smell of a new book and like to look at the covers and shit.

    :greddy:

We should combine forces and write children's books or comics or something. :mamoru:

Don't worry about the title. I'm almost ready to start querying my novel, and I STILL don't have a title for it. Usually, though, the title comes from the story...not the other way around.

Tell your story and worry about the title later.

I'll spend hours in bookstores sometimes just wandering around. I have never once met someone there though.

I like dating sites though. So long as you use them in addition to trying to meet people in real life and not a substitution.
