    do want

I've been reading Samurai Executioner. Good grief, it's fucking incredible

It's just crazy...definitely the pulpiest shock art I've read for a while

I've paged through Lone Wolf and Path of the Assassin, but I am wondering what else you'd recommend.

That's on my list too :bigthumb:

Samurai Executioner is crazy, man. It's about a sword tester who uses condemned prisoners to approve swords. To give you a sense of the storytelling flair, I will tell you this: The first two people he must kill are his father (the sword tester before him, who he has replaced), and the whore who popped his cherry

It's full of serial killers, rapists, lesbian prison sex...nuts, man, nuts.

Yeah. It seems more episode-based than Lone Wolf or Assassin, so there is a lack of a huge, epic feel that crosses through the individual stories. But the same guys collaborated on it, so the storytelling is tight. The stories are all emotionally charged and complex, they just happen to include a lot of really seedy shit, lol.

    Here's a review I liked:

Samurai 7, is pretty good. Based on the Kurosawa movie.

Dunno. It would work well in that medium though. It is very episodic.

Is it by Goseki Kojima? The bios in Executioner say that, later in life, he really wanted to do mangas of Kurosawa's work.

Someone just reminded me of the title of Satsuma Gishiden. I've only paged through volume one, but it looks really awesome. Seems to concentrate on how samurai found work and managed to survive, once their services became totally obsolete.

I'm almost done with Samurai Executioner :hs:

Here's a frame from book 8, which I read last night:

Dunno. I like bullshitting with the guys at Big Brain comics, so I almost always end up with hard copy. I believe it is fairly new to the U.S....a couple years old maybe.
