I was wondering if someone could help me build a Media Center PC for around $600. It would running through a projector and it might be used for the sound too. It will be used for daily activities, DVDs, burning, dvd coping and maybe some gaming.

Save yourself a HUGE headache and just buy it at Best Buy for $1000

If you join the Reward program you will get some store cash back. Wait for a sale and you can get 10% off, so now the PC is under $900.

You can't make that PC for less than $900, but personally i'd wait until sunday and see what the weekly special is in your area. You can probably get that (or similar) for $900 and also have it include a 15" (maybe 17") LCD, that you can sell for $100 so now you're out-of-pocket less than $800.

IMO $600 is not going to cut it for a good media PC.

I built a Media Center PC a while back.

P4 1.8, 1 gig RAM, 300 gig hard drive, Hauppauge WinTV PVR150MCE, etc. It definitely isn't the fastest PC, but runs Media Center pretty well for me at least.

Just make sure the TV card you are going to use is compatible with MCE.
