Mine is a Athlon XP 2800+, and a Radeon 9800 Pro video card with a PVR-250 capture card, works great for me since the capture card does a majority of the work.

htpcnews.com has really good info though on minimum specs for certain tasks.

    You can check out http://www.xpmce.com/forum/forums.html

They have a forum for MCE and I'm sure you can get some info from there.

You can also check out the Microsoft site for the minimum requirements and what hardware is supported.

Here you go ... spent some time digging around for some parts. This is what I would do if I were going to build a media center PC. :)

Don't skimp on the hardware, either. Media Center is very processor intensive if you are going to be using it to it's fullest extent. Recording TV with it and watching TV is processer intensive, as well as just using the TV functionality that's built into it. Anandtech has a great article on processors and how well Media Center will run on lower and higher-end machines. You should probably check it out.

The setup I posted is expensive, but what I would consider to be necessary. If you're going to do it, do it right. :o
