So I read that the new MBPs coming out are upgradable to 8GB of ram.

Does that included the 1st batch of unibodies from last year? Or just these new ones that start with the 4gb?

    :dunno:

No. Although I have read a couple people claiming they've gotten it to work but I wouldn't count on it and it could be buggy.

from the first round, only the 17'' support 8. From now on, the 13, 15 and 17'' all do.

Pretty much the same thing i've heard. I have heard (but don't quote me on it) that you can get the original unibodies to 6GB, but that might even been hit or miss, i'm not positive.

Damn, that wasn't a very helpful post, huh? Sorry. :hs:

Yeah that's right, the thing I had seen was 6GB. Just seems weird. Don't think I'd fuck with it.

New MBPs are running 4gb upgradable to 8gb

My MBP was last years unibody = 2gb to 4gb

    I'm curious if I can run 8gb.

Jesus. That 13 can be one hell of a sick little puppy. Very very tempting. Will wait for the 13 mbp to hit refurb status.

:werd: kinda feel bad for the people that bought the unibody vanilla macbook last year. but not too sorry cuz my ex bought one

new 13" are like the 17" and you can drop any 320GB HD and 8GB of memory along with being able to take the entire bottom case off

you seriously crack me up...

last years book (like you said) could be upgradable to 4gigs
the new macbook (like you said) could be upgradable to 8gigs...

what makes you think that releasing a new model will magically enable more ram to be usuable in last years model?

it's like your left brain types and your right brain is whistling the jeopardy theme

    I see.

    I didn't know they're 100% different from last year's unibody.

Lots of people. Hell Safari can eat up over 8GB of RAM with just a tab or two open.

Yeah, not worth it right now unless you really really need it for doing video editing on location or something. I'd just wait for it to go down.
