I bought my 15" Macbook Pro back in Jan of 06, and after 102 Charge cycles its already at 88% health. Is this a normal rate of wear for these batteries? Should I be worried?

You're fine. Thats actually pretty good.
I bought a MBP back in 2006 and I had to replace my battery a few months ago as it was at about half capacity.
That was my 2nd battery too, I forgot I got a new one right when my 1 year warranty went out.

I wish my MBP battery was that well off. Newertech really needs to release an extended capacity MBP battery. I've been waiting and hoping for one before replacing mine but all they tell me is "We're working on it." Think I'll be buying an Apple replacement in the next few weeks when I get my machine back from Apple.

I'd be so down for a high capacity battery for my MBP. Thats the only thing i miss from my old Inspiron 8600. Thing would last over 4 hours with normal to heavy use.

We always upgrade to the Newertech batteries as soon as we get a new machine or did until the MBP came out and now one isn't offered. Looks just like the factory battery buy lasts up to 33% longer in most cases.

Do you not use the machine much or always use it plugged in?

How are you knowing how many cycles it has and what your capacity % is?
