I was at the Mazda dealership yesterday looking at the Mazda3 again, and I was wondering what the main differences were between the regular 3, and the MazdaSPeed version were other than trim and 20 extra hp. Is it worth getting the speed version, or would I be just as happy with the regular 3? I'm going to see if I can test drive one today, but I wanted some opinions.
Not sure the speed version is worth 4k+ more atm.

you're looking at a mazda3 which already says money is TIGHT. You don't need the mazdaspeed, or anything else that along those lines.

LOL some of us prefer to spend some of our money on things other than the car.

the MS3 is going to have more than 20 extra hp; its going to be in the 230hp range (or 70 over the 2.3 s's). if you like the car but don't want a slug, it's worth the extra $4K. of course, that puts the car into some pretty heavy battleground, but based on the MSP, i would bet on it holding its own well.

Hmmm, well, what other difference is there between the two versions? Personally, I like the Mazda 3, and I might consider spending a few k more if its worth it.. :dunno:

Ok, well I just looked up the different models and it looks like the S model would be the best bet, it has the same motor as the SP23 version, but a few grand less.

theres going to be alot of other differences than the turbo. suspension, brakes, wheels/tires, lsd, styling differences if that does anything for you...

There's nothing too concrete about the MS3 right now. It won't be available until this time next year. It will most likely have the same kind of upgrades as the MSP - turbocharged/tuned engine, stiffer suspension, aftermarket wheels, and a few luxury goodies.

The SP23 is just a loaded 3s with 17" wheels, a stereo upgrade, special color choices, a couple other doodads, and some more luxury-type options like HIDs and an alarm. That $2k doesn't buy you any performance. The only thing I'd be interested in are the HIDs but that isn't worth $3700.

Looks like the S model is the one for me if I decide to buy one at some point.

You can get those option on the MZ3s. At least my 04 Hatchback has them all. I have Xenon headlights, navi, 17" wheels stock (got aftermarket now though), 6 disc in dash changer (can get Bose upgrade as an option), etc. No need for the SP23 for that. :dunno:

Don't have the MSP stuff though.

Oh thanks for that witty comment. I don't have that issue, so if you or anyone else has read it, I would like to know a little of what they had to say about it.
