Im thinking about joining the BMW crew, im not sure if this is a great place to ask this but anyone here know why all the 7 series I find that are "loaded" dont seem to have the active cruise control? Im looking at used 06s to save some money but all the ones I find dont have active cruise? Is there a problem with it? I mean on paper it sounds like a great option to have and Id like it. Im not really pumped about buying new since cars depreciate so fast nowadays.

it has cruise control, but not active cruise control. Active is the radar/laser based one that maintains a set distance between you and the car in front. I get so annoyed when i drive on the highway and approach slower cars and i have to hit the cancel and resume buttons about 500 times a trip. So I figure if Im buying a car that has it as an option, I want that option ya know? The other car I really like is the Charger SRT8 (yes I know quite the jump) but it doesn't offer active cruise so Im ok with that. but the 7 does, but all the ones I find dont have it, WTF!

The Mercedes S class has that (Distronic). I don't think the E class does, though. I would have to double check.

I've been thinking about buying a 06 S55 Old body or 07 S63 New body S class, but I have a 92 (I bought it new 14 years ago) SL500 and I love it. Great car, I really like the stuble styling of the older benz's, but I love the 469hp/519ftlbs S55 motor. I thought I'd try a BMW and while the M5 is a car I'd like to buy as well, I think I need more of a big lux car... Im just not sure if I wanna part with that much cash :big grin:

seems silly to buy used with that sort of vehicle. Go all-out or don't play at all.

Buy new and you get it exactly the way you want it, too.

Ya but im a cheap ass...... and why should I pay 30 to 40 K more for new. There is nothing wrong with a clean titled, non smoker, accident free, 06 with 2000 miles on the odo is there? Plus with BMW cert you can get a 6 year/100,000 mile warranty.

When I priced out a 7 on BMWs site active cruise was an option.... and the MSRP was 104,000.... the ones I found are around 60 to 70 quite the savings IMO.

A used 06 to "save some cash"? I don't really see the point.

If all the 06's you find don't have the active cruise then just go for a new '07. You'll probably want keep it for a while anyways.

Ya thats what Im going to have to do, but the problem is I dont buy from dealers.... I buy at dealer auto auctions. :big grin: I should really ask this question on a BMW forum. I just find it odd that I cant find one with active cruise.

You dont see the point in saving money???? I mean I could buy new but I can think of alot of things I could buy with the 40gs I'd save.

:dunno: was it an option on 06s? What about finding a used 07 in a few months?

that may be the problem... There's a REASON they're at the auction.

Yea cuz they cant sell at a dealership? I goto the Vegas highline auction from time to time and they have BMW certified pre owned cars, some with 6 year warranties!

I've been shoppping on ebay and autotrader and none of the cars I find seem to have active cruise. I believe AC as been an option on the 7 since 03 or 04? But I've been only looking at 06s. After a long debate I may get a S55 now, I dunno. LOL

Then he didn't get every option.

When I built one out it has an option for active cruise on the 750Li.

It's an option, although it's rare. I dont remember the price exactly but it isn't a cheap option, and on top of that not many peopel even know about it as an option.Your best bet is to jsut keep on looking. And dont worry about soem of the trash talking peopel are doign saying you shouldnt buy used or from auctions. Good for you on looking for deals. Save that 30K for yourself.
