This thing might be fun to really mess with.

Take the Venture and go from this...

    to something like this.

(and if the fairing comes off easy, then a new headlight/dash from a Vmax maybe)

Take that from fairing off for sure, then it will be sweet!

That will be happening this week. It's gotta come off to take off the forks whether it's easy or not.

Have a feeling once it's off, it may be hard to put back on :)

damn, if you don't want the Venture, let me know :)
I would keep one in full tourer mode and do a vmax job on the other one. :big grin:

Got it roadworthy 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Rolled it out of the hanger tonight and took it for it's first shakedown run around the lake tonight. Forgot how much torque these things have when I hit the throttle pulling out onto the highway and the front tire came up a bit.
Think I will leave it as is and maybe toss on the Vmax parts to make it a nice little sleeper.

4 weeks from wrecked basket case to back to back 1000 mile trips from Reno to Phoenix and not a single issue even sitting in bumper to bumper traffic in 125 degree heat. I really should just do this shit full time and start another business.

I've been looking for a Venture myself. Hard to find one in good shape around here.

They are like gold if you can find one in good shape. I found this one searching Craigslist in the next state over.

The Ventures were always the hot rod of the touring class but could never quite top the Goldwing in features and comfort. Shame Yamaha stopped making it. I always thought it was a great looking bike.

They didn't quit making it. Just quit making it in the design I wanted it. Turned it into a super huge cruiser that was worthless to me.

They went to the harley-esque Royal Star Venture in the late 90's. Awesome touring bikes but yea, they are huge and definately don't handle like the 1st generations. I can flick this thing through curves like a sporttourer.
I got the last year that all the bags were removable too. I would like to fabricate mounting brackets this winter for the FJ1200 so I can use these bags on it if I need them.
