Maxing on deads GT/NUDES...

    I am going to go for a DL max in about a week and half to 2 weeks...

    I hit 500X5 last week and it was close to my max...probably could have hit another rep.

    what should I shoot for this week for 3 reps? and finally what should I shoot for as my max?

    That's a big jump?

    I guess it depends on how 500x5 felt, and if it was touch n go are actually dead...and if the lockouts and speed were fast and not grinders :dunno:

    Well that's the thing, I can't tell someone what jumps to make without seeing them pull a set. Even then it's a random guess becuase I don't know how it felt.


    If it was me and I pulled 500x5 on some DL like standing on a box and hte next week I wanted a 3rm I would jump to 545.

    they were all touch and go and all were fast except the last one. it wasnt a grinder but it wasnt a dynamic rep either (loL). Like I said I probably had atleast another in me.

    I would pull 515 for a single and if that felt good then I'd pick on that. Probably liek 525ish or some shit.

    and touch n go is a lot different then setting it down and pulling heh

    Yeah thats what I would do. But I'm no expert.. honestly I pulled 700 with no suit or gay sumo hoopla with not all that much effort.. Just did GM's and shit I never deadlifted consistently. I can't really tell people how to get a bigger deadlift as I didn't really do all that much to pull 700. My back is just stout. I never deadlifted more than once every 3 weeks or some shit.

    GTlifter is right. RM table shows you should be able to hit 545x3

    true. my handy dandy calculator is telling me to go 506-523. depending if I use 90 or 93%.

    is touch and go a bounce? I was told to set it for a second or two before going again.

    and if you get that, hit a single with 545 or something if youre not cashed

    i wouldnt say it a bounce but you do get the stretch reflex.

    same here...

    lots of heavy GM's and lighter pulls standing on blocks for sets of 3-5 gave me a 675 raw pull. I pulled truly heavy maybe once every 2 months.

    I'm not gonna max out today. Next week. just working up trying to leave A LITTLE bit in the tank here and there as I feel.

    Never doing GM's got me to a mid 600's deadlift so I dunno, maybe I need to start doing them

    I pulled that 700 while doing Strongman so I really had no time to do deadlifts. We would do lower body once per week and it would mostly be a squat or a front squat, followed by some sort of lower back stuff.

    Or 5 sets of 100 of leg extentions to "help with sled pulls" :rofl: that was the worst. Made no sense but if someone who is an IFSA pro SM tells you to do it I guess you just do it.
