    Link to the proposed legislation:

    http://mlis.state.md.us/2007RS/bills/sb/sb0043f.pdf

I specifically love this little gem. It's on page two:

If this one line is any indication of the intelligence of the people who wrote the bill, I dont see how they passed the first grade.

Do they honestly think that criminals will obey the law? Do they think that criminals are going to go register their "assault weapons" that were either stolen or brought in from out of state? Do they honestly think that gangs are roaming the streets with any of the weapons they have on that list? Hell, 3/4 of the guns on their pistol list probably sell in gunshops for more than $1000, and that's if you can find them. Probably half the guns on their rifle list cost $1500 - $2000. I mean christ, when was the last time there was a crime committed with any of the following?

Politicians bewilder me sometimes. None of the guns on the list are readily available to criminals other than SKS's and AK-47's, and even then, most criminals arent going to go around wielding a rifle to commit crimes. They'll buy some piece of shit .25 or .22 that they can conceal. If they want to ban anything, ban cheap guns.

    Wow, that's just silly.

You mean the gangsta's can't buy Galil's now?!? What will they do??

Seriously though, howTF is a M1a an assault weapon?

Guess this is one more reason that Maryland sucks....

when was the last time someone committed a crime with a tommy?

    1936?

  9. I guess they've had so much success controlling crime in Baltimore that they are looking to go state-wide with bizarre policies.

Dragunov Chinese made semi auto? Last I checked, the NDM-86 didnt say dragunov any where on it. I think they are trying to ban a gun that doesnt even exist.

oh, and :wtf: Barrett light .50 cal. semi–auto. Why the hell cant they just name it? Oh right, then they would just change the name a little bit. If this does pass, I bet a court would hold it as far to vauge (want proof, they were far more exact in the CA ban, yet the courts still said it was to vauge to say AR/AK series.)

Actually, reading over this, it looks to be almost an exact copy of SB-23 in Cali. One problem they will run into is that Courts have determines that it is up to the state to determine if something is a series weapon, and thus saying stuff like 'AK-47 in all forms' will not fly. (not to mention that what most people have are AKMs...).

Also, for the SKS with detach mag, CA banned it exactly the same way. Interesting thing is though, only the russian Simonov carbines and some Chinese ones actually are designated as SKSs.

    fucking liberals..
I'm sure theres hundreds of crimes committed with FAMAS's considering there's less then 100 in the whole damn country.
Sounds worse then the caliban, m1a's are legit in cali as long as it doesnt have the evil flash hider and bayonet lug.

damn gangbangers in compton bayonetting each other :madfawk:

I really wish legislators were forced to back up their claims with statistics. It'd make things so much better if when someone says I want to ban gun x because it was used in y amount of crimes. I'd love to see them justify attempting to ban the Thompsons. They should go ahead and ban pin striped suits and fedoras.
