i remember when marvel comics used to follow 1 story line per character. you would pick up a few books every week, and follow the story even if the last issue was weak. but now, trying to read around 20 books every couple weeks is bullshit! espcially when the stories are a jumble of crap. anyway i used to read comics for the action, mystery, suspense. nowadays all this civil war shit is just DRAMA. elongated story lines with no sense of action. unless its a big fukn mess of bullshit. wrapped in more storyline shit. anyway im done venting.......if anyone could recommend some reading like

    image-elephantmen
dc-allstar batman & robin the boy wonder
    marvel-ghostrider: trail of tears

would help... you know something with a solid story base, and a good ongoing series.... if you havent checked out either of these please do. they are both very well writtin and drawn....

invincible - yes there's super drama and more then one main charavter in the invincible universe. kirkman (the writer) strays away from the others (brit, noble causes, savage dragon, tech jacket, etc) and keeps to his own stories, and it's wicked fun with tons of action. if you like core spider-man stories, you'll love invincible.

If you want a great book that's rewarding for the fan, you should read Moon Knight; however, if you're not a fan of Moon Knight, just read it anyway. He was a fucking hardass in the last issue. Him vs. Cap = right.

edit: if you like the whole vengeance theme, that is.

yeah moonknight is the man! the first issue was bad ass...its only up to issue 7....it seems like its going so slow....i was in florida (september 06)and picked up issue 6 when i was there. 5 months later i can finally read issue 7 mad wtf. but i will still read it if available....
also i read black panther. but unfortunatly i had to leave off on issue 6-7...if anyone can catch me up or recommend good reads in this series after issue 7 it would be real cool. thanks guys

He's less of a Batman ripoff than Deadpool is a Deathstroke ripoff. If you read all his older stuff, he never paralleled Batman. He was dark hearted way before Batman was. The only thing that anyone was ever able to bring up that resembled Batman was his moon darts vs. batarangs. Maybe it's his monochromatic costume? But Batman isn't schizo. He hasn't been in the military. He doesn't have a wife. He doesn't have a Frenchie. He has infantile sidekicks that he throws in the face of danger in gaudily clad clothing to distract the villains such that his life is in less danger. He doesn't cut people's faces off. Just read it; it's all really good. But if you're not well-versed in Moon Knight's lore, I hear it's a fairly slow read...

Ive been off and on OTCC for a while now, and reading this thread i realized noone has ever mentioned my favorite comic book of all time...

Hellboy (and then B.R.P.D i guess)!
Despite the offputting name (just sounds like it would be stupid) Hellboy is the most perfect comic book writen, mike mingola is a god.

    Done
