So my fiance is on my case about picking a wedding song to dance too, so i was wondering what any married person danced too at their wedding. Or if not married, some suggestions of songs i can listen to and share with her.

Thanks Guys, got less than 5 months till my wedding :noes:

Gavin Degraw - More than Anyone. Wife actually professionally recorded a version of At Last as a surprise present that we danced to later (amazing singer, with terrible stage fright).

Gavin Degraw had a lot of background with us, so it was an easy fit. We have friends that love going to Hawaii just to see Jack Johnson, so "Better Together" was perfect for them and their wedding; cute and low key.

Played out is relative. Pick a song/artist that means something to your relationship, don't just pick something thats pretty. Screw what other people think may be played out or lame. Its your wedding.

The only argument about something being played out, is picking the "it" song on the radio 24/7, since youll likely get annoyed by it in years to come.

Although I have no intentions of getting married anytime soon, the song during my wedding is going to be Foo Fighters - Everlong (my favorite song), played by violin, breaking into the real song afterwards. My wife will not have any say in that one single aspect of the wedding. Everything else is hers.

What music do you like? I'm not married but I play at weddings for the ceremony and after at receptions and I've seen dozens of first songs. Most are tired crap like top 40 music or overplayed standards but some are fun to play. Here's a list from the ones we have played.

A lot of people pick Eva Cassidy songs like Tennessee Waltz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1TD-7k52y4

I played Debussy Arabesque and Girl with the Flaxen Hair at two (I played piano but we had other instruments) This was a really formal wedding though:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiPR8-p473o

Sea of Love covered by Cat Power (Covered by us).

Magnetic fields: With whom to dance

One of the funnest was the Zombies- Friends of Mine
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go-p...4140007B&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=10

We played Talking Heads- This must be the place but with orchestra instruments instead and less 80's synth (At their request). There is a copy out there somewhere:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGa52pQ-z4E

Another popular one is In My Life- Beatles

Blur- Your so great (Again, with violins and some weird instruments but it was really fun and it went over very well).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2rLNkzFqPc

The point of the first dance isn't to use tired old standards but one that you two genuinely enjoy. It doesn't have to fit with the rest of the wedding at all.

Oh shoot I forgot, a couple of 20yo's want us to play this as their first dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwFS69nA-1w

I would say pick something that fits your personality. Dont pick something 'sweet'/ 'mushy' that you think other people might 'approve' of. Like Tzuma said, screw other people, its your wedding.

My fiance and I are going to have to pick our first song soon, and we dont really have a song either. So far, I think we are leaning twards The Ataris - I wont spend another night alone."

Didn't hear it until we danced to it at the reception. Beautiful song.

Recessional was You're The Inspiration - Chicago, and we danced our first dance to Etta James - At Last, which is engraved in the first piece of jewelry my husband bought for me.

Lil jon and snoop dogg- step yo game up

Start with a slow dance song, then play a record scratch song and cut straight to the part where they say "Drop it down bitch, let me see you back it up, drop that ass down low and pick the mother fucker up"

If your wife is hot, have her dance slutty.

    Then post pics
