Got to shoot with Market Garden and hang with Laurel today for some IDPA fun. He got to break in his new STI Spartan and it ran like a champ! I've taken maybe 10 people so far for their first IDPA shoot and he shot really well for being his first time out there.

The field was strong with 80 shooters and lots of really good local shooters, with 23 strong in CDP. I had one really bad FTF in one of the stages that screwed me up. Ammo related and I placed 2nd in my Class, 6th overall in my Division.

Here's the video from today, thanks for the camera work Laurel! :bigthumb:

yeah dude, that really pissed me off. It cost me 1st in my class, I came in 2nd by 3 seconds, which I lost at that stage.

Is it a requirement to wear a loose fitting shirt that interferes with the ability to grab your magazine?

You have to wear a "covering garment" that covers your gun. It needs to be loose enough that you can brush it out of the way when you draw your weapon.

  9. Fuck yeah! I just found the match results. I came in 2nd out of 5 in my class! And 14 out of 23 in the division. I feel pretty good about that for a first time out.

dude, to be honest, you did exceptionally well out there. Some of the seasoned shooters came up to me because they knew you were my boy and took notice.

And then I was told, maybe I shouldn't share "all" of my secrets anymore... lol, nahhh. I get a kick out of seeing someone do well. CDP is a very competitive and hard group, you practically jumped out into the deep end. Good job man! :bigthumb:

Yup. the "game" is set up so that you have to wear cover garnment that covers both your mags and gun, just as you would if you were CCWing.

My other game, USPSA, it's all race, no covergarnment, no using cover, no tactical priority, no reloads with retention. Just Run and Gun!

I can't wait to get Market out there for some USPSA.

Man, I need to do some IDPA. Speed steel is fun, but there's no movement.

  13. Thanks! I really need to practice on those swinging targets. I lost a lot of time on them.
