Manta Ray Squats - *vids* and commentary

    If any of you have access to a Manta Ray, I highly recommend that you start using it. It really forced me to stabilize in a way I don't usually have to with a normal squat. I definetely felt a good amount of work in the quads with the higher bar placement and I had to make an effort to stay back. Plus the device itself distributed the weight across my traps and made a heavy load for reps feel good for once.

    You can get em pretty cheap (~30 bucks) and are a good way to mix it up.

    After a Max Effort Good Morning Workout, I kicked out 3 sets of 5 with the Manta Ray to a high box and it really smoked my legs. went 4 plates, 5 plates, 6 plates.

    i learned to squat with a manta ray. once i got myself off of it i felt that it had actually improved my form and squatting. i think with the manta ray i would place the bar up way too high, and it would also cause some pretty nasty looking scratches all across my back/shoulders.

    thats the point of the manta ray, higher bar placement. its not to be used for routine squatting - its a way to mix it up

    i cant fucking stand that thing, i bought it like 8 years ago :rofl: I cant even fit it on my traps. If I can find mine i will give it to you maine.

    yeah, it claws the shit out of my yoke, but I like the higher bar placement, etc
