Theres literally a ton of great manga out there that no one even knows about and most people just stick to the mainstream stuff like naruto.... i want to start a thread where each post could be like a preview of sorts to a current/recent manga that the person is reading and could basically share to the rest of us the basics and also where to download legal scans or purchase. It would be very helpful for me to read a small snippit (no spoilers!) of various mangas before wasting time and bandwidth only to find out that i dont like that particular manga. so we could help each other out... maybe sticky this?

okay so i'll start off to give an example...

    Air Gear (by Oh Great!)
Oh Great is the same guy who does Tenjou Tenge so you can expect alot of similarities between the two. The artwork in Airgear is just superb, i love this guys drawing style. The plot is kinda wack and doesnt make sense (the whole premise is about rival rollerblading gangs) but the production value is there and the artwork is good enough to redeem anything else. The people in this manga live in a world where there is a futuristic kind of rollerblade which has motors and enhancers which allow the user to go faster and jump higher. Teams and gangs are formed around the use of these devices. Just like in Tenjou Tenge theres alot of boob and panty shots and also alot of good fight scenes. Also like in tenjou tenge the main character is a young boy who is good at fighting and he has a cute female admirer. Its pretty much tenjou tenge on rollerblades.

Snoopycool is currently scanslating it but their website is down www.snoopycool.com currently you can try their IRC channel [email protected] ... they are at volume 3 .... i can probably upload the earlier volumes if people request

    next up we have...

Blade of the Immortal (by Samura Hiroaki)
God damn I love this manga. Theres no kawaii designs or goofy humor in here its all violence and drama. Rin is a girl who witnessed her father getting killed and her mother getting raped and killed right before her eyes. The killers are led by a man named Kagehisu who wants to create the ultimate swordfighitng school in japan by killing all the current dojo masters and taking over their dojos one by one. Rin's father was one such victim. Manji is a samurai who accidently killed his sister's fiance (manji is a lawless ronin and his sisters finace was a policeman).. this caused his siter to go insane and ultimately led to her death. After that Manji basically went into solitude. The thing about Manji is that he is immortal and basically life itself torments him. Rin meets Manji and wants him to help her enact revenge on Kagehisu (the man who killed her parents)... However there is more to Kagehisu than meets the eye. Overall, this manga is just superb. The artwork is very good and so is the plot and pacing. Theres very little bullshit. It reminds me alot of Samurai CHamploo... you have a ronin type wanderer (mugen/manji) who is protecting a girl who is our for revenge (fuu/rin).. and they get into all these little escapades and also there is a hot geisha type assassin (that blind lady in champloo/mackie)

The manga is currently licensed and distributed by Dark Horse Comics and they are at Volume 14-15 i believe. Old volumes can be found using traditional P2P methods

    NOISE! (by Tsutomu Nihei)
This is a single volume prequel to BLAME! (nihei's best known work and conversely my favorite manga of all time.. i will probably do a BLAME! post in the future)... Typical Nihei, there is very little dialog and ALOT of scenic graphics... nihei likes to leave the intricacies of the plot and various theories about the universe up to the reader's imagination. In this story we get introduced to musubi who is a detective in the future. She is working on a case where children are getting kidnapped for biological experiments.... we eventually get introduced to evil corporate entities, robots, cyborgs, and mutants..... the violence is great and the plot sets you up for BLAME!

this isnt licensed and can be doawnloaded in its entirety..

Blade of the immortal is awesome.
I'll upload some of the stuff I've been checking out tonight.
Addicted to curry (done by the same guys as GTO, there's a thread about it somewhere...) and some other stuff. Mostly from yanime.com .
I didnt' like tencho tangue, the art was fabulous, but the "story" was absolute ass. I'd be down to check out Air Gear. Link to torrent?

Actually, I'd like to catch up on my Blade of the Immortal as well. I haven't picked that up in years. Is that torrented?
