I'm looking for any helpful information on how I can go back to Windows from Mandriva Linux '09. I have the install disc for Windows XP, but everytime I go through the paces on how I would regularely install XP it just doesn't work, saying that there is no harddrive responding.

I'm a super Linux noob so any help would be great....or even just a thought on how I can execute this without messing up too badly. Anything is appreciated.

you have to clear your boot sector

can you boot into a dos or command line and run fdisk /mbr?

or boot of a linux live cd and dd zero the boot block

EDITED: So I retract my previous statement, because whenever I try the command line fdisk /mbr it isn't recognized. Any thoughts?
