Man with fake gun gets shot in face By Karen Voyles Sun staff writer No arrests have been made in connection with an overnight shooting at the Fox Hollow apartment complex. Continue to 2nd paragraph According to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched shortly before midnight to investigate a shooting at the complex at 7301 W. University Ave. William Wright told deputies that he shot Charles Barton after Barton allegedly pulled out a gun and threatened people. Barton was reportedly upset because no one would give him a ride to the east side of Gainesville. Wright's account of the event was that he went back to his own apartment to get a gun and when he returned to the area where Barton was, Barton was pointing a gun at Wright's roommate, Shelia Combs. Wright told deputies that he feared for Combs' life and his own and fired two shots. Barton was taken to Shands at the University of Florida for treatment of a 9 mm handgun shot to the face. Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Keith Faulk said Barton was expected to recover from the wound. Deputies recovered a look-alike weapon from Barton and a 9 mm handgun from Wright. An investigation is continuing. === once again 9mm sucks.
