I have a huge basement and I'm thinking of using one of the walls to put my guns on. Kind of like a shrine I guess lol.

Anyone done this? I'd like them out on display other than a safe.

Where can I get something to hold up my rifles/shotguns and maybe something that'll hold my handguns nice.

If you've done something like this post pics

Well, I wouldn't really think that's the best idea in the world, for several reasons. The first being safety - anyone you show it off too would be the person most likely to break in and steal your shit, and or use it to fire on you.

If you must, I'd recommend you remove a firing pin at the least - something to render them inoperable while on display out in the open. I'd image some sort of pegboard with rubber coated pegs will work.

Someday, I'd love to build my own personal armory in my basement. But, it'll be someday when I'm not so poor. I'd start by designing a large basement w/ reinforced and line-x'd block walls. Then I'd have an actual vault door lifted into place. And then I'd build the house around it.

It would also be my zombie fortress.

My Dad did this in the house I grew up in. House was in the country, and in the basement there was a wall that backed up to an unfinished area that they used for cans of food, laundry/utilities room, etc.

He is a good wood-worker (retired architect) and made a built-in that was recessed into the wall. Had red felt all along the inside, and the front had glass that slid in tracks (2 pieces of glass, had a lock in between them like you see in the gun stores for ammo, ect).

Had then put some wooden racks to hold his rifles. Have to remember, this was before there was really a lot of interest in evil black rifles, so it was mostly shottys, rifles, revolvers, a mosin, 2 lugers from my grandpa.

The wall section was about 3' off the floor, about 8' wide, and went up to about 1' from the ceiling. the 3' below he built in cabinets that had locks where he had all his ammo, holsters, etc. All that shit.

I can see if they have a picture of it, but I hope my description made sense. I personally wouldn't store my guns like that anymore. That was almost 30 years ago, in the middle of the country and responsibility laws having to do with firearms are a LOT different, and I have a feeling that a few panes of glass in a home to store your guns wouldn't be THE wisest thing to do.

It sure looked cool though.

probably nobody will remember, but the old movie "The Big Hit", he had his stash in a hidden area behind his work bench

if I wasn't as lazy as I am right now, I'd hook up one of my external drives and take a screen cap

nah it's too old of a movie. I think early 90's. Basically it's a work bench with a pegboard back with tools on it, opens it up and there are all of his guns, grenades, etc.
