this has been kicking my arse all day and yesterday.

Ok I just installed a server at our office, before all our pc's were running home. so ofcourse i had to upgrade them to pro because home wont connect to a domain.

so i bought xp-pro, and i want to make a copy of it so i dont loose or hurt the OEM CD.

I can copy all the files on to a cd but the disk is not bootble from the pc. All my bios settings are correct.

im just looking for what i am missing to make a copied version bootble?

ive tried a bunch of things so my last effort is to bug you guys with my stupid problems...

    Please help:sadwavey:

What I would do it put the cd in the drive, use IsoBuster to create an iso of the file, then use Nero to burn the iso file. It should turn out to where the iso is bootable too. That's just me.

Yep, I'd also make an ISO first, then burn that.

If you want to make an unattened XP CD, which you can make that will automaticly install the OS, plus patches and programs and your CD key, while you go do whatever and when it's all done it'll configured the way you like (services, accounts and more)

Otherwise there are always ghosting options...or if you just do 'cd copy' in nero, it will be bootable.
