I'm running 9.25. Is there anyway to make the fit to width option the default? I took a quick look in opera:config, but didn't see anything.

Are you talking about media, or the browser itself?

Well I gotta split, so i'll assume you mean the browser window itself.
I run two browsers at the same time on my computer.
IE on the left, and Firefox on the right. What I do is right click the toolbar
and select tile windows vertically, and it snaps both windows to the edges
in a 50/50 proportion. Well even when I reboot, they still open up that way.

So even with one window running, if you select that option, the window will
snap to the edges every time until you adjust it, or some java app from a website does it for you.
But then all you have to do is right click toolbar, tile windows again.

By the way, if you have multiple windows open, it will snap all of them.
So you want to shrink all of them down but the one you intend on having opened up full.

He's talking about an Opera-specific feature called Fit to width. If a page is taking up too much horizontal space and makes a horizontal scroll bar appear, it will scale the page to fit the width and get rid of the scroll bar.

I'll see if I can find anything

I don't like that option... it makes sites like OT not work properly.

Oh, that is pretty cool. I'm surprised that it would work though.

I know when you try to adjust font sizes in browsers, it can sometimes make certain texts in websites freak out.

Pretty cool if it works well though.

Here's what my quick-reply box looks like normally:

If I have "fit to width" enabled, and I try to mouse-over any of the toolbar buttons, then I get this:

Here's a video of it actually happening:

Yea, mine does that too, but the main reason I use it is to not scroll left and right.

And what small resolution do you use that requires constant left/right scrolling? Or what fucked up website do you go to?

I didn't say I was constantly scrolling left/right. Mainly when there are pictures in threads....

I'm running 1280x800, but I keep my bookmark panel open most of the time since I am always using it.

meh, I have the shortcuts defined for bookmarks, and I have come to rely more heavily on that 9-way start-page that opera introduced.

I use speed dial once in a while... It's just become a habit for me to open a page and click the fit to width button even though I don't always need it. I'm glad there was a way to make it the default.
