I fucking hate this argument. One of my girlfriend's friends keeps saying this to me and I said that statistic probably includes suicide, domestic violence, etc etc not robbers taking our guns out of our hands or whatever. I keep trying to explain it and/or prove it and she always just gets mad and walks away. Is there any hard evidence I can show her to put this argument to rest for good?

Also according to her I'm paranoid for keeping my guns loaded and not locked up w/ trigger guards in a safe. :hsugh:

31 of 32 models of gun locks tested by the government’s Consumer Product Safety Commission could be opened without the key. According to their spokesperson, "We found you could open locks with paper clips, a pair of scissors or tweezers, or you could whack them on the table and they would open.”
    Washington Post, Feb 7, 2001, Page A01

California has a trigger lock law and saw a 12% increase in fatal firearm accidents in 1994. Texas doesn't have one and experienced a 28% decrease in the same year.

that "statistic" is flat out wrong. It was a pull it out of the air argument made by gun banners back in the 90s. Turns out there is absolutely no data to support their argument.

And what a broad statistic at that. The "majority." Really? So what is that, 90%? 87.4%? What?

Even if you throw in the 65,000 "injuries from firearms that still comes out in the gun owners favor.

That author was a self described anti at one point

That was the Kellerman "study" that came to that conclusion. What they forgot to mention was that the statement should have included living with a convicted felon and having a gun in the house, to make it anywhere close to accurate.

She's right. I went hunting one time, and this buck snuck up behind me. Before I knew it, I got a hoof to the face, and woke up bound to a tree, and the deer was pointing my AR at me. If it weren't for those anti-gun squirrels, I wouldn't be alive to tell this story!
