    Okay, I has a problem.

    paging: scottwax & others.

My mom's 2002 chevy impala has a bit of an issue with wetsanding marks, because I suck :hs: they're 2000 grit marks, and I'm having some fucking trouble taking them off. I don't have a buffer, and will not be buying one, since this is the only time I'm ever gonna need it.

I filled all the stone chips with putty, then primed and painted, but haven't clearcoated most of the spots yet b/c my mom freaked out about how the paint looked with teh sanding marks.

So, I sanded it flat and tried to polish it out with the compound that came with the kit I bought. EPIC fail; I'm thinking their stupid 1600 grit they gaveme feels a lot more like 800.

My current plan: gonna hit it with 2000 grit, then some polishing compound. But I dunno... is there a better way? The paint that I put on is pretty damn thin now :hs: I dunno :wtc:

How much would a pro detailer charge for something like this?

Go up to 3000 grit to finish out, even so, you are going to find it pretty close to impossible to remove wetsanding marks by hand.

Without seeing it, I can't even give you a good ballpark $$$ amount.

You need a polisher. And what did you paint it with spraycan?

you are not going to polish wetsanding marks out w/o a polisher..

I can't even take out 2000grit with a UDM. You are gonna need a rotary to get them out completely.

Sorry, but you obviously are using it wrong, probably not applying pressure. It's very easy to get out 2000 grit marks with a PC/UDM.
