    Just got myself a new MBP and after having my previous MB for a little over 3 years I kinda grew tired of some of the programs I was using. What are the programs you use most often and what function do they serve? Also, I'm kinda up in the air about using firefox again, it's become really bloated over the years compared to what it was when I first started using it 5 years ago with my pc.

    My list:

    Word - graduate history student, I write papers like it's my job
    Adium - best messaging program I've come across
    Itunes - obvious
    Entourage - Links up decently well with my Blackberry although I'm looking at getting ATT and an Iphone in February when my contract is up

    I've never found a worthwhile use for Spaces. If Expose didn't exist I could see a use for it.

    Enlighten me. :hs:

    Same here. I see no need for Spaces, but I also have dual screens. Either way, it doesn't fit my needs unless someone can enlighten me with how they use it.

    I think the way most people utilize it is by compartmentalizing their workflow.

    Internet apps on one space.
    Design apps on another
    Games on another?
    Porn on another?

    lol

    Everyone uses Word over iWork? I thought we had a lot of iWork users here.

    its funny, because i see spaces as really eliminating my need for exposé. the way i use it is this. my spaces are set up and assigned as follows:

    1 2
    3 4
    5 6

    1 = internet browser
    2 = iTunes, transmission, other media stuff
    3 = iChat
    4 = calendar with all my events synced up
    5 = word, powerpoint
    6 = excel

    i mainly use my laptop for internet surfing, communication (chat, social networks), media, and then of course educational purposes. this allows me to organize all of my tasks into different virtual screens, and really frees up space to enhance my multi tasking. i can switch between the virtual screens by simply holding command and then hitting an arrow key to move in that direction. i hate stacking programs or windows on top of each other, even though exposé really does a great job of helping to sort through that clutter.

    i mean, i'm always open to suggestions, so if i'm overlooking something with exposé that you think i would like, by all means point it out. this is just what works best with me, and i'm going to get windows 7 pretty soon and dual boot with fusion, so i will add some more spaces once i get that going as well.
