My new Mac Pro seems to get the kernel panic screen whenever I'm transferring files to or from another computer on my network. This has happened on two different networks with two different other computers. The problem definitely is with my Mac Pro.

I have 1gb of apple ram and 4gb of ram from kingston. I ran memtest and it said everything was okay with my ram. I then ran the apple hardware (extended) test off my boot CD and it too said everything was good.

I called apple tech support today and they suggested creating a new user account and trying that out. I still got the panic when transferring files from the new account to my MacBook Pro.

If anyone can help me out I'll shoot them $5-10 bucks on paypal or find some way to compensate you for helping me.

Apple also suggested an archive and install, but I really don't want to do that because I'd have to re-install all my applications (CS3 Suite, Lightroom, etc). So any suggestions other than re-installing the OS, I'll give them a try.

    Thanks. :wavey:

Remove the Kingston RAM and retry. Guarantee it's that or a data issue w/the files. Is it at the same point?

Different files each time. Still get the error.

I guess I'll try removing the RAM.

I had some bad Crucial Ballistix stuff a while back. Computer would crash when working in a 500mb PSD file or launching certain programs. When I pulled the memory it ran fine for a week, so I'm sure that's your problem.

No need for the payment if it is.

I pulled it and put it back and it seems to be working okay. Are you saying you had to pull it once a week??? If so I need to just return the RAM and get new sticks.

Its still copying folders but it hasn't lasted this long yet, so I'm guessing its better.

I pulled it and ran w/out it for a few days. Tho I noticed within a few minutes of pulling it that's what the problem was.

Well, after pulling and putting it back it seems okay. If it stays okay for a few days I'll feel better.
