i'm sitting here in photography class and i have an 80-200m Kiron macro lense. it's for sure a macro lense as it says it right on it. when i put it on the ricoh 35mm camera i can't get it to focus and either can my teacher. when we take the lense off the camera, we can focus with just the lense itself. how does this work??? if anyone can help or if you have ANY suggestions i'd be glad to hear them.

    TIA

I seem to recall that some zoom macro lenses have a ring near the back of the lens that you have to turn to get the lens in and out of the macro mode.

yeah there is that ring, we put it to macro but we still cannot focus on anything. unless we hold the camera back like 3 or 4 feet. but that defeats the whole purpose of a macro

what you have is a macro zoom. It is not a true macro, similar to what I have. It will NOT focus on anything less than 4 feet away. What kind of mount/ camera is it? If you want to get close, try close up, magnification filters, either screw in or conklin, best way to get closer.
