Looking to ditch my current MacBook Pro and get the newest and best. Sound like a good idea to sell it around the end of May and wait til the start of WWDC in hopes that they release a new one? Is the MBP in for an upgrade?

lots of rumors seems to point to yes. Should be interesting to see how the redesigned MBP looks if the rumor holds true

That would be really weird considering they just updated it back in February. I'm definitely holding out until then myself.

They just silently upgraded some options today. You can now pay $250 more to go from 2.5GHz to 2.6GHz and the 17" now has an option of a 300GB 4200rpm hard drive for another $75 or so. Fucking lame.

I've heard that they really don't expect to update the processors until Q3 2008.

:werd: Didn't sony lose out on the previous war with DVD? Sony notebooks are pretty sexy, second only to Macs. I did have mixed feelings with their mini-disc....

Yeah I don't really like how Sony has to come out with their own proprietary format all the time.

the last Macbook Pro update was more because the chips they were using at the time were being phased out by Intel. I think the odds of a revaped Macbook Pro are good.

Rumors put the new MBP in the Q3 time frame, so you'll be waiting about 4-6months.

:werd: Historically, this would probably be a pretty good time to buy a MBP. http://guides.macrumors.com/MacBook_Pro_Buyer's_Guide

I would say wait the 3 weeks until the WWDC. If all they do is release the 3G iPhone, then buy the shit out of the MBP.

Damn it I hope they release a new one at WWDC. I'm ready to ditch this one. Having more then 2GB of RAM will be really nice as will the extra speed of a new processor. 3G iPhone I'm meh about. Work will order them for us when they come out. It'd be cool but I can wait if they don't come out soon.

I could care less if Apple ever gets back into offering monitors. They were crap. Not as bright as the competition and more expensive. Pretty but not worth the premium. They're just Samsung screens with an Apple casing. We picked up a new 30" from Apple for $1457 a while back but the only use it really sees is trade shows as we all prefer laptops.

Sorry, it belongs to the company, not me. Apple bugs the hell outta you at Macworld and other shows if you're running their computers without their monitors. They want you to have the latest everything when you're showing off their products so they give you a huge discount on them.
