My macbook pro is just over a year old.

When I use the computer on battery mode from a full charge it will suddenly turn off at about 50% battery life.

    What's going on?? :sadwavey:

Coconut Battery shows 92% battery health and 95 charge cycles.

Have you tried calibrating the battery?

    check out: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490

I've had problems with bad batteries as well. Mostly because I don't use it enough, and keep it connected to the AC all the time.

Go to Apple Store, tell them to look at.

I have. I'll use the computer until it says ~50% battery and then it will just shut off.

I'll take it to the apple store next weekend. :wavey:

had this happen with my Macbook, they replaced the battery out of warranty by accident. The first guy i called said they'd replace it for free, and I got a bill 2 weeks later for it. called up customer service, and they refunded me, no questions asked.

battery is usually 1 yr or 300 charge cycles, whichever comes first, but I'm sure if you phone them up and explain that it's not just discharging quickly but actually shutting off at 50% they might swing a free replacement. I probably shouldn't't have gotten a free battery, since mine was well over 2 years old (still less than 300 cycles tho) but the guy I spoke to at applecare told me they'd replace it for free, and I made him repeat it just in case the call was being recorded. He said he only needed my credit card for cross shipping, and that I wouldn't be billed. when I got a bill 2 weeks later, i phoned applecare again, teh person put me thru to customer relations, and some chick on the phone listened to my story. she put me on hold for like 5 min, and then came back on and said I'd have a refund in 3-5 days.
