I’m going to the dark side & getting rid of my pc & going mac

I am just getting to the ordering stage of a macbook pro. Glossy screen or a matte screen?

I cant decide on what to get. Nor can I really tell the difference when they are on.

15” or 17”? Will the 15” with LED-backlit display be a better choice? This will be my only computer from here on out.

I like the matte much better. You get a lot of odd reflections on the glossy. If you go to the apple store and look at both there is no doubt that you'll notice the difference.

I'd go 15" just because its a good bit cheaper, but if money isn't a huge deal then go 17". Also, 15" is much easier to carry around, so if you plan on taking it lots of places you may be better off with 15". If you find 15" is too small, you can always pick up a 20-24" external monitor to plug it into when your at home.

I'd save money on the screen size and buy 3-4 gb of ram from newegg/other site and throw it in there.

17" is gigantic. this girl in my networking class has a 17" mbp and regrets it because it's too bulky for her
i have a glossy screen on my macbook, i never really have glare problems. i wouldn't mind having a matte screen though

I have the 15 matte. The glossy is nice, but I couldn't stand seeing reflections in it.

i do software/web development, and i really like having the extra screen space with my 17" MBP. i try using a 15", and it's ok, but just not the same. I've got the glossy, and although it's ok, Matte is better for true color, glossy is better for media stuff.

    I'd go 15" glossy..

I have the 17" glossy myself but it's a tad big... but hey ! They're much cooler, I like it for movies and the extra usb and firewire connections but 15" is just much more handier and ofcourse cheaper. Only reason for me getting the 17" was the fact Apple shipped it same day, which I needed.

But yeah, 15"... glossy or matte depends on your work, and oh. 2.4ghz and 2 GB ram ftw

Depends on how often you'll be moving it around...I had a 17 inch Powerbook, and took it to and from work everyday....which totally sucked.

I take my 17 MBP to and from school, work, anywhere I go, and I don't find it to be that bad at all.

i dunno if they can sell applecare on ebay but either way you have anytime within one year of ownership. you can go on apple's support page and type in your serial, this will tell you the date it was bought originallu...you have one year from that date to extend it 2 more years.

same here 15 matte. i had a glossy screen on my 17in dell and i can't see shit sometimes. especially if you're at starbucks or somewhere there is an abundant amount of light.
