there's an update for the "SMC" system management controller that controls the fans. follow the instractions carefully. also, make sure the macbook is connected to the power cord during the update

    REMEMBER, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!

when I ran it, it said SMC Software is now version 1.0. Is that what it is supposed to be?

Is this just for the plain ol' macbook or is it for the pro version as well?

It just says macbook, but nothing about "DON'T RUN THIS IF YOU USE A MACBOOK PRO" or something along those lines.

The update will not even run on a MacBook Pro, even if you tried.
