and yes, I'm a moron because not all my shit was backed up. I've ordered a replcement from newegg, but what are my options for recovering data other than something ridiculously expensive like drivesavers. :dunno:

If you have access to another mac, just connect them via FW, then boot your macbook while holding T. That might work :dunno:

also, why didn't you just have Apple replace it? It's within the 1yr warranty.

I was planning on throwing in a 120gb drive anyways, so I don't really care about Apple's replacement. The data is what I care about, and they won't do anything to help me out with that.

not to mention, if you open your macbook and install a new hard drive yourself, then you risk voiding your warranty. i say get the replacement for now

word. get the free replacement then get a bigger external drive or something.

i'll talk to a guy i know who might be able to extract the data off your crashed drive. i'll see what he would charge you.

Oh I already have an external 160gb drive that could have easily backed up my data. I just had not gotten around to doing it. :o

word. i looked at some tonight when i was at work. they have some that interface with firewire and have firewire ports on the back so you can piggy back your ipod. i think i'll go with one of those. problem with the ones we have at work is they are 300+ gigs. i don't need something that large.
