Macbook crew.. disk space question..

    So i just got the macbook and well I've yet to install anything on it.. and it says: 25.78 gigs used.. :ugh: doesn't that seem too much?

    Uninstall all the iLife crap if you're bothered. :dunno:

    but is 26 gigs normal with a stand alone out of the box computer

    do a fresh reinstall. from there you can deselect ALL the printer drivers (which take up a shitload of space) and enable just the one for your printer (in my case HP)

    uncheck the language translations as well

    and then get rid of the bundled apps you don't need - esp the garageband files. I unchecked everything except 'cpu help files' as I don't need the other shit.

    total install size was 2.9GB

    get rid of the printer drivers will save 1-2 gigs
    (library > printers > delete everything inside)

    delete the garageband loops, idvd templates and imovie templates should save you another 8 gigs (also in your library)

    delete your language packs will save you another 800megs - 1.5 gigs
    use Monolingual to do this and follow the instructions carefully, you can find it on version tracker.
