whats everyone use if any?
you don't need adware or anti-virus programs. they actually hurt your system when you use them.
i've been using my desktop almost everyday for the past 2 years going to many questionable sites and haven't had a problem yet.
... what's a virus?
honestly, i've been using macs for over 10 years, and i've never EVER had a virus, spyware or adware.
you only need an antivirus program if you are sending files to other machines that might be effected, via something like FTP. You would only need to allow the problem to check outgoing files, and nothing else. You would only use this if you know the other machines may not be protected on the network.
I'm never going to install one on my mac
they're pretty much viruses in themselves
I have this friend who knows this guy who has a sister whose boyfriend's brother once thought he had a virus on his Mac.
But it turned out to be nuthin.
clamav or clamavx (cant remember the name, its one of those though..) is a free mac virus scanner. It really sucks though. One time it found something (guess where?) on my windows partition and told me it couldn't remove it.
