Hi all. Ill get right into it.

I use a windows system at home. I do lots of file sharing and IE browsing. Nothing intensive at all. A game now and then would be the most its ever used.

I just got a mac and although I have been using windows for a long time I'm not too familiar with mac's. I like it. It's a laptop and will be used to school and general use while traveling.

I know it seems kinda lame but I was wondering if anyone knew any software out there for mac's that you would recommend. Any ftp software or movie players other then quicktime I would be very intrested in. Then any other software you think would be usefull for me. Any kind of mp3 editing tools I'd like to play around with so that would be great also.

    Thanks

ftp ==> use the command line
if you prefer a GUI, download transmit from http://www.panic.com

Quicktime is your best bet on movie players. Windows Media player is available from Microsoft.com though. You might want to download DivX Doctor from http://www.versiontracker.com to help you play DivX movies.

Not sure about MP3 editing tools, do a search on the website I listed above to see what their results are.

Thanks, I put on a trial version of an ftp program last night and spent 3 hours dicking around and getting it to work. It was fun but not exactly my style so Ill take a look. Is that FTP program an IRC type file sharing program or just an ftp program like ws-ftp?

For FTP software I like Interarchie (formerly Anarchie).
