i desperately want to make love to a schoolboy... i mean i desperately want one or the other. I've got Rev A 1st gen MBP (2.0 Ghz CD) and looking to sell and upgrade to a new fancy unibody mbp, OR i could keep this and drop $2124.15 on a brand new shiny Mac Pro (quad core, not the 8 :() since my friend works at apple and is holding a 15% off ticket for me.

    WHAT SHOULD I DO??

    i could always hackintosh :/

Can you manage to keep the old mbp and get the mac pro?

i have a unibody macbook (2ghz 4gb ram) and a mac pro desktop (3.0ghz * 8, 5gb ram, 3x750gb), and i think thats a pretty sweet combo. portability and power.

Get the Mac Pro, fuck spending all that money on a gf. If you go to Paris why take the gf? Like they say, why take sand to the beach? :nono:

if i were under 25 i could see your point, but being that i'm over 30 there's a 90% chance i'll spend the rest of my life with this woman so Paris with her would be pretty awesome.

    point taken though :)

Honestly, it sounds like you would like to move the computer around, so I would recommend a laptop. Then because of the amount of things you're looking to do with it are pretty basic, I'd go with a MacBook unless you really want a larger screen. The MacBook will do anything you're looking to do and save on cost.

all day long, i recommend people to get the macbook vs. the macbook pro if they dont need it. many times they dont want to feel like they're getting the cheapest thing. they like to show that they have money, so they spring for the pro. in my opinion, i think its stupid, but to each their own. buy something that truly fits your needs

honestly i would totally go with the macbook, but the 3" of real estate is the ONLY reason i'd go with the pro.. I know the macbook will do everything I need it to, and i've got the 15" now so i don't know if i can downgrade real estate :(

unless you're doing some high end shit (video editing, motion graphics, filter heavy large photoshop files etc...) why do you need a mac pro?

upgrade your laptop, or get a secondhand mini or imac if you want something for the desk.

save the cash then, get a mini or an imac... no reason to waste money on a computer...

also, having been to paris... shit sucks, go somewhere else... spend no more than 2-3 days if you must...

I haven't been to France, but I don't think I would stay there too long. Germany, England, Ireland, Italy, now those places I had fun.
