Hey, I will be buying a 15" PB with the superdrive and 128mb video for college, but I'm a bit worried that as soon as I buy it another one, with a faster processor or something will come out and I'll be pissed. I know the intel proc. is coming out in '06, but has any heard anything about a new model in the next few weeeks or months? Let me know, it's much appreciated.

The new PB's will be on the shelves in the 4th quarter of this year from my insiders info :big grin: Who knows though with all the shift to intel though it might actually be 1st quarter of next year. You can always ebay the PB a few weeks before it comes out and make most of your money back to upgrade to the new one. I'd never buy a REV A model though. Too many bugs usually!

That's true. Maybe I should stop being a pussy and just drop the 2500.

I'm willing to bet apple could get a Pentium notebook out the door in six months if it wanted to... doesn't mean they will.

Just buy it. If you don't, you will inevitably end up waiting for a new model to come out, and if it doesn't happen, then you will be pissed. And even if it does happen, just buy it from a place with a good return policy, and hopefully you will be able to return it, or maybe ebay it. Or you could just keep it, most of the time, the processor boost isn't really noticable over the last generation, if you want a faster powerbook, then just max out the ram in it.

:dunno: I figured you thought they couldn't have their proprietary hardware schema in order in time, which is why I made the comment

obvoiusly they would be stupid to because you'd be releasing a new hardware platform that would be outperformed by a previous generation due to lack of universal binary availability.

Cool. I also bought Applecare, I figured I'd already paid pretty much up the ass, what's another $235?
Total came out to over $2700 after tax with student discounts. :wtc:

    :eek4:

I spent a total of just over 2100 for mine.

    15"
    1.67ghz
    128mb video ram
    combo drive
    512 ram

    no apple care plan

I used the developer discount which ended up saving me 245 ontop of the student discount price

True, but I got the superdrive. I wasn't aware that the model with the combodrive was compatable with the 128mb video card. At least I don't think it was an option when I went and compared.
