Basically Im looking for a 2nd computer meant for 90% Porn, OT, School Work. 10% 5 year old games. ie unreal, starcraft, civ 3

I've never owned a mac, the mac mini looks great, seems to be decently powerful as macs go and would be tons easier to set up.

If I got the VIA EPIA SP13000 route I want to build it into an old NES case. Performance would be more than enough for what I'm looking for but cost and labor would be the deciding factors.

Does anyone have thoughts or oppinoins on either of these.

for bang for the buck go for the windows box. If you have never had a mac a mini a great way to start. Add a KVM switch and have the mini run itunes and use iphoto for organizing pictures.

all the games you dropped will play on a mac, and labor's already done for you... mini seems like the obvious choice to me, but I value my time over money when it comes to decisions like that :dunno:

if you wanna do the NES / VIA thing as a hobby, that's a totally different story.

check the refurbished for great deals on a mini. go to the apple store, then look down the side for the big red sale tag, clcik, and scroll down to the 1.42GHz one. The one i've been looking at is a 1.42 Ghz, 80gb HD, 256Mb of ram (u can get a 512MB stick for 50, or 1 gig stick for 100, but u need to buy it elsewhere, and instal urself), and it has a combo drive (CD-RW, DVD), etc. Awsome, just needs a monitor, keybaord, mouse, and something to plug speakers into.

And its only 430 with free shipping. Its like 460 shipped if u buy an Apple keyboard. Use a 3rd party optical mouse (i love my microsoft and intel ones, both were cheap, and plug n play).

    Mac mini ftw.
