mac is medded up please help me

    mac is messed up please help me

    ok i went to turn it on today and when it turns on it goes to a grey screen and has a picture of a ? mark and the two faces flashing on a folder ... please what does this mean oh damnit im sorry i guess i should say its an i mac g3 its older but i have some crap on it i need and would like for it to work

    That happenning to me a few years ago at uni......

    I just moved to a new computer, apparently is was stuffed! Sorry I'm no help.

    it can't find the startup disk.

    when i boot from a cd it will not let me click on anything like it wont open folders .. u know what i mean ?

    no, it should just come up like normal
     
  7. Use Disk Utility or Disk First Aid to repair the disk. Wait for it.

    i tried to use disk utility and disk repair but my hd doesnot show up to repair it .. do u think i have a bad hd ?

    yeah thats what im starting to think ... well does anyone have any small hd 's laying around that would work in a i mac g3 dv ? and is there anyway i can get the shit off of the old one ? i have some pretty cool shit on that one

    im don't have a hd laying around but im sure you could pick one up fairly cheap. I know some places can move the files, if you so please. or if you can hook your machine up to another and set it in firewire target mode, you can move files like that. that is, if they still exist.
