I was using my macbook and all of a sudden the screen went dim and an error message came up in multiple languages saying I needed to restart by pressing the power button. I had no way of restarting the normal way so I had to press the button. Anyone ever had this happen? What causes it? I Have the latest version of Leopard.

usually it is bad RAM that causes these "kernal panics"

try running the hardware test that is on the Restore DVD.

Hmm... Just started using Mac a couple months ago, and still trying to get over not having to update my anti-virus (like in Windows).

If I saw a dark screen on Win, I'd assume a monitor problem. But for Mac it's obviously different... Still learning.

I got the same thing just now on my MBP. And all I had opened were Firefox and Adium. I don't know if this is any significance, but it happened after a couple minutes I plugged the power chord to my MBP because it was getting low on battery.

How do you use the Rember sofware? Right when I tried to test the RAM, my fans started going above 6,000 RPM so I stopped the test out of fear that it would break the fans and fry the cpu.
