We currently use Apple Remote Desktop, we're looking into a Mac server but apparently I need to get some alternatives.

So what do you guys use?

We have 50+ Macs in a campus-type setting, hitting all of them every week for updates is starting to be taxing. The lack of NTLM V2 support has turned us to Kerberos. The main directory service is ADS.

We've looked at Filewave, it would be great if all we needed was to distribute software. It doesn't handle authentication and a couple other things that a server would

    Any other ideas?

Mac server should be your best bet.

That's what I'm saying, but I'm supposed to find some alternatives and do a whole little compare and contrast deal for the higher ups. :hs:

authentication, NTLM V2 updates, global standards/groups/policies, possibly even file storage

Already did, they suggested a server. I agree. I need alternatives to show what is already in use in the market and what they do.

    Server - damn near everything
ARD - can remote to single user's desktops, can send out packages, can do reports, etc.
    Filewave - sends out software
Devon Technology - ARD alternative, uses Bonjour, can't do package installs
