Ordered an M4 stock and lower from Spikes. Should I have them upgrade it to the CTR or is it not worth it?

i think it's worth it..i didn't like the wobble of the m4 stock compared to the ctr stock

Thats one of my main gripes about the standard carbine stock. Fits loosely on my rifle and feels sorta cheap IMO.

I liked the CTR, but it's awfully light. I'd be wary of putting it on a heavier carbine - it's easy to build an unbalanced pig.

CTR + HBAR = disaster. Actually, almost any stock with a HBAR = disaster. However, the standard M4 stock is quite light as well, so I don't think this statement matters to the question.

Overall weight doesn't matter quite as much as balance when you're shooting the rifle. Lugging it of course, is a different matter.

Personally, i'd save the money and stick with the standard M4 stock unless you need the QD mounts on the CTR. The "non wobble" feature of the CTR is nice but not really needed.

  10. The CTR is great on a lightweight AR. The rubber buttplate for the CTR is fantastic, it really helps the gun feel tight against your shoulder, rather than the plastic buttpad of the M4 stock.

many adjustable stocks have too much flex for my liking. The magpul stocks, lmt sopmod, and the ace m4 socom are some exceptions. Even still I prefer a proper fixed stock. Nothing wrong with the standard a1 or a2 stock except it doesn't look as trick. I'm running the vltor a1 rifle modstock w/ the rubber buttpad to make it a2 lenght.

zero flex even when I'm locked up in a difficult 90 degree side prone.

I like the CTR, I have one on my lightweight SHTF gun and its loads better than the stock AR stock.

However, like YAR, for anything I want to shoot with precision, I like a fixed stock. My favorite right now is the ACE Skeleton stock.
