I would consider buying one, but it seems such a hassel to go through CMP.

Where and when did you purchase it? For how much? Was it sold as a certain grade when you bought it?

I got one. It was given as a gift to me but purchased through a gun show.

They seem to start to be getting over-priced, which sucks. I think CMP is the way to go.

Mines currently getting a match build from DGR. Should be finished early next week :noes:

I bought it from my mechanic who aquired it in a trade from someone who couldn't pay their repair bill, I gave him a 1992 CR500 for it, dont think it ever went through CMP, guy who gave it to him said it was his grandfathers, as far as I can figure its all original issued parts including bayonet, finish isn't 100% wood has some dings but bore is excellent.

When it comes to a weapon with the quality and the history of the garand, I think of it more as the cheap ones are drying up rather than them being overpriced. (except for the guys at the gunshows, God knows what some of them are thinking)

I own a Service Grade M1 Garand that I ordered from CMP back in December, it arrived 2 weeks ago.

You will not be disappointed with a CMP M1 Garand, mine is absolutely gorgeous.

I don't even really care to own a Garand, but 500 bucks for service grade is almost too good to pass on.

The coolest part is the pling.

Since the gun show, I have acquired a leather sling, canvas sling, bayonet, GI tool, buttstock cleaning kit, and a billion clips.

Cheaperthandirt just sent me another 420 rounds today :)
